No liberal, he
To the editor:
In this modern-day world of mass communication it's easy to lose sight of definitions to common words. The following is an example.
A liberal believes in civil rights and progress.
A conservative believes in economic freedoms and tradition.
A statist believes in the ultimate power of the state.
Ten reasons why Bill Clinton isn't a liberal, he's a statist
1. Don't ask, don't tell; "Just say sell out."
2. Driving through NAFTA; "giving America workers the shafta.."
3. Pushing for GATT; "Gawd awful for the workers of the world."
4. Arrest levels the same as Republican predecessors for marijuana; "Next time 'inhale' Bill."
5. Pro-censorship rhetoric; "Tipper taking charge?"
6. He's an interventionist; "A time for 'common sense' wars."
7. Opposition to needle exchange programs; "Just because they are proven successful, that doesn't make it right (for my re-election campaign). "
8. Normalizing relations with Vietnam; "How much are Vietnamese human rights and our POW/MIA's worth? We just found out."
9. Firing Jocelyn Elders; He had a strong, intelligent black woman. What he do? He fired her!"
10. Not supporting Dr. Abrams research for using marijuana as a treatment for AIDS wasting syndrome; "I feel your pain. Relieve it? Nah, but I feel your pain."
Thank You
